Studio C - Village of the Arts

Owner Connie Buckler-Gill was born in Kentucky and as the daughter of a painter discovered at an early age that painting and sculpture gave her great peace and joy.

In the 1980s, she moved to Sarasota to work as a scenic painter for the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus and The Walt Disney Ice Shows. She then went on to study painting and sculpture at the Ringling School of Art and Design.

1995 found Connie starting her own business as a muralist and interior decorative arts painter, a vocation which she continues today.

In 2005, Connie began studying Spiritual Peacemaking and Sufism at the University of Spiritual Healing and Sufism. On the Sufi path, she found prayers and disciplines that led to a more connectedness to God and experienced healing within her own body, mind and spirit in addition to a shift in the depth of her relationships with others. The Sufi path also reinforced her love of art and gave her an even greater appreciation for the peace and joy she found in art as a child.

While Sufism remains her real passion as a spiritual path, Connie still reflects on (and is grateful for) her experience in The Catholic Church growing up. She has great respect for the many prophets and teachers that have brought us sacred texts showing us how to be with God in this life.

Connie tries to use her work as an artist along with her spiritual path to bring more love, peace and joy into the world.
